The
American Public Education System - Too Dumb to Comprehend.
12-2-07
A nation's future depends
on its youth. Sadly, too many of America's youth haven't been taught first
and foremost to respect authority -- or education! America needs to get
control of our youth. It's quite simple. Require each child to complete
high school. No child is smart enough -- or mature enough to make the
decision to quit school at 17 years of age. Allowing such a decision to
be made by a minor is the height of irresponsibility. Students
must also be required to actually illustrate that they learned the lessons
of each grade before they are allowed to move to the next grade. In order
to help instill discipline at school and foster a respect for the learning
process, all public schools should adopt a uniform policy. Children in
America have a lot of time outside of school to dress however
they like, and express their individuality. Today, schools that do adopt
dress codes are being sued by parents of students, claiming the policy
interferes with their child's rights. How dumb is that! What about the
chaos that is caused by kids wearing their gang colors to school, or the
disruption caused by kids who wear t-shirts with obscene, political or
religious messages that offend other students? A uniform policy, or at
least a strict dress code policy would be a start in restoring discipline
in our youth and teaching our students to respect education.
OK,
This Immigration Thing is Getting Out of Control!
10-29-07
America has always had
an immigration policy. Our state department grants a certain number of people
from each foreign nation visas to visit or green cards for extended stays
in America. A lottery is held each year in countries that are eligible to
have their citizens legally enter America. (If a country has had over their
limit of people entering the US for a given period, the US puts a halt to
any more of their citizens being allowed into our country for a period of
one year.) People from say, Germany, who wish to get a green card to come
to America have to enter a lottery year after year until their name is selected
in the lottery. Some names never come up. It is an honor and a privilege to
be chosen to come to America. That is, if one tries to enter this country
legally. The lottery system is supposed to control the mix of cultures coming
into America. Everyone is welcome, provided they follow the rules for entering
the country, and the laws which govern our country. If you are granted a visa
to legally enter the states, our government knows exactly where and who you
are staying with, and if you're discovered staying past your allotted time
frame, guess what happens? An official from the INS comes knocking at your
door and immediately deports you. Somewhere along the line, the residents
of Mexico decided that they need to reclaim America, and felt it was within
their right to try to do it illegally. Within the Mexican government, this
is known as the "reclamation". The Mexican government actually encourages
their people to illegally cross our border to "take back" the land
"we stole from them". Talk about scary! Check
out this related article! Many in this
illegal group is causing all sorts of social problems in our country. From
education costs to drug smuggling, violent crimes, and identity theft (to
name a few), this onslaught of illegal aliens on American soil has to be stopped.
The illegal aliens are so bold as to think they can demand rights in OUR country.
THEY'RE NOT EVEN CITIZENS! Now, they are starting to fly the Mexican flag
in our country -- ABOVE -- the American flag! Check
out this related news story from Channel KRNV! It's starting
to get out of control. The solution? A fence along the border (duh!) and stiff
financial penalties for businesses employing illegal aliens and jail time
for repeat offenders. Deport illegal aliens as they are discovered - don't
reward their illegal behavior with amnesty. The politicians' apathy about
this problem has gotten us into this mess - now they better do something fast
to fix it! That said, everyone IS welcome in America, provided they
enter the country legally and respect the laws of the land.
Election
Day-Off in America
7-25-07
Here is a simple idea whose
time has come. Let's make election day
a national holiday that celebrates
our democracy and the freedom it affords our great nation. Election day should
be a paid day-off from work, but only if each worker returns to work with
their voting slip to prove they voted. If they fail to show proof that they
did indeed vote, they get docked a day's pay. Since too many Americans are
apathetic about voting, perhaps this idea would provide enough of a spark
to get them engaged in the political process. It would also show our youth
that our government values the voting process.
Incompetence
and Deceit at the Highest Level - Spinning Out of Control
10-20-04
Why has the Bush Administration been given a pass on
not realizing the dire consequences of invading Iraq? If you or I
forged ahead with a flawed idea at work that proved to be a disaster which
caused the company to go into debt, or worse yet, caused the death of employees,
one would expect that we would be held accountable for our irresponsible planning
and decision making. Accountability should go hand-in-hand with governing.
According to George Bush, he never, ever, has
to assume blame or responsibility for any action he takes, even when the facts
are dead against him.
Even if Saddam was involved in terrorism, and everyone knew it,
realizing how volatile that region is, it would not have been prudent
to invade. Harsh sanctions could have kept Saddam and his regime in check,
and if that measure proved futile, an international coalition could have
then taken further action. The repercussions of moving troops
into Iraq, and toppling Saddam's regime, have been a total surprise to
the Bush administration. In May of 2003, George Bush, aboard
the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, declared that "Major combat
operations in Iraq have ended." Later in his speech he said that
"We have turned the tide in the war on terror." This was a clear
indication of just how clueless he and his administration were of the
events that would follow. How incompetent to not realize the grave repercussions
that were to embroil our troops in the worst wartime disaster in American
history. Going to war with Iraq, a country
that DID NOT attack us, and DID NOT possess WMDs, has energized the terrorist
movement worldwide. Our invasion of Iraq has solidified
militant Muslims worldwide against America. It has made Iraq a flashpoint
for terrorist activity. George Bush's lack of intelligence, judgement
and ineptness has emboldened Iran and North Korea's nuclear programs.
George
Bush says that we have to fight the war on terror where the terrorists are
located so we don't have to fight them on American soil -- but we
must correctly identify the terrorists first! The Bush Administration
failed miserably, or acted with extreme negligence in providing the American
people with bogus evidence of Iraq's involvement with terrorism and their
possession of WMDs.
Since
Iraq's civil war has been escalating, the Bush Administration's propaganda
machine has been spinning out of control
telling the American people that everything is "on course" and
that we should "stay the course". This war was off course before
it started, and someone at the highest level should have to answer the
question as to why this administration was so intent on going after Saddam.
Terrorism was the excuse. But what was the real reason? Gee, could it
have been war profiteering by companies like SAIC, Bechtel and Haliburton?
Every
bloody day that American troops remain in Iraq is one more day that the
Bush Administration will be held accountable by the American people.
